Carbon Tracker 2011.
Institutional investors recognise that holding global warming to below 2 degrees is essential to maintaining the potential for stable long-term returns. This analysis of South African coal reserves finds that the country will have no room within its carbon budget for the development and combustion of new coal reserves through to 2050. This has profound implications for national economic strategy, business plans, as well as investment allocation and stewardship.
